Wilson Kia Addresses Vehicle Theft Concerns in Jackson, Mississippi

June 6th, 2023 by

FLOWOOD, Mississippi – Recent news has raised concerns among Kia and Hyundai owners in Jackson, Mississippi regarding vehicle theft. Wilson Kia acknowledges the worries of its valued customers and is taking proactive measures to address the issue.

Vehicles ranging from 2011 to 2021 have been identified as susceptible to theft due to the absence of immobilizer software. To enhance safety and security, Kia has initiated a safety recall, offering a free theft deterrent software update to affected customers. This update extends the alarm sound from 30 seconds to one minute and requires the key to start the vehicle.

Furthermore, Kia and Hyundai have entered into an agreement to provide compensation for customers who incurred theft-related vehicle losses or damage not covered by insurance. This agreement also includes reimbursement for anti-theft devices, such as steering wheel locks and alarm kits, along with coverage for increased insurance premiums and other related costs.

Owners of Kia vehicles from 2011 to 2021 with a twist-to-start ignition system are eligible for the recall. The update process takes approximately 1.5-2 hours, and customers are encouraged to schedule additional maintenance and service during the recall appointment.

For owners of 2022 or newer models, your vehicles already include an immobilizer and updated software for enhanced protection against theft.

To assist affected customers and ensure vehicle security, Wilson Kia invites you to make an appointment by contacting us at 601-944-6580 or visiting our location at 4204 Lakeland Drive in Flowood, Mississippi.
