Regularly Inspect Your Vehicle

Approximately every month, you should check these vehicle aspects to ensure that everything is functioning and being maintained properly:

  • Make sure warning lights work.

Oil Changes

The rule of thumb is that you should get your oil changed every 4,000 to 6,000 miles, but you’ll also want to check the owner’s manual for your specific vehicle to see what’s recommended. Oil changes keep your engine working properly and reduces the risk of more involved, and expensive, issues.

Tire Rotations

Your tires should last between 40,000 to 80,000 miles when properly cared for. Tires wear down at different rates, depending on where they’re located on your vehicle and the type of roads you drive on. To get a more even wear, tires need to be rotated. This should be done about every 5,000 miles. A good way to remember is to schedule a tire rotation when you schedule an oil change.

Air filters, like oil, need to be changed every 4,000 to 6,000 miles. Your engine needs air to flow properly in order to work. If the filter is dirty or obstructed, engine performance and fuel efficiency are affected as you drive around Ridgeland.
